ASML's new highNA Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) lithography system represents a major advancement in the field of semiconductor manufacturing. EUV lithography is a type of photolithography that uses extreme ultraviolet (EUV) rays with wavelengths around 15 nanometers (nm) to print incredibly small features onto silicon wafers. This technology allows semiconductor manufacturers to produce integrated circuits (ICs) with smaller transistors, which translates into higher performance and lower power consumption for electronic devices.

The highNA version of the EUV lithography system takes this capability to the next level by allowing for the patterning of even finer details. The numerical aperture (NA) is a measure of the cone angle of light entering the lens, and it directly impacts the resolution capability of the lithography tool.
